Encouraging words from our Founder, Simona Fusco:
You are not alone. Be real with your feelings. It is good to be brave and fight, and it is okay to admit fear and accept help when you don’t feel so brave. At The Maria Gruber Foundation, we are your extended family. We are here to support you during this difficult time whether it is helping with food, cooking, laundry, grocery shopping, walking your dog and other daily necessities or helping educate you on your diagnosis. We help take the stress off mind and body. We are here to encourage you to accept help from others. Grieve when you need to. Stay strong because you have to for you and your loved ones.
As a caretaker of a loved one, you need to stay healthy. Take charge by eating well, exercise, even if it’s only walking. You will be so glad you did. I was. Breathe. Take it one day at a time, be your own advocate and know that you're stronger than you thought you were. Listen to your body, build a great support system, and know that you are not in this alone. Even if your loved one dies, you beat cancer by how you live, and the manner in which you live. We are here.
Best wishes,
Simona Fusco
